IN-VAS L1 Operations Engineer
Role Summary
The IN-VAS L1 Operations Engineer is responsible for 24x7 monitoring, fault management, and first-level support of Intelligent Network (IN) and Value Added Services (VAS) platforms. The role ensures service availability, quick incident detection, initial troubleshooting, escalation management, and operational excellence to meet agreed SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring & Incident Management
- Monitor IN and VAS network elements, applications, and services using NMS/OSS tools.
- Detect, analyze, and troubleshoot alarms and service degradations.
- Perform first-level fault isolation and restoration activities.
- Escalate unresolved issues to L2/L3 teams and vendors as per escalation matrix.
- Track incidents until closure and ensure compliance with SLAs.
Operational Support
- Perform routine health checks and service validation.
- Execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Monitor platform performance, capacity, and availability.
- Support scheduled maintenance activities and change implementations.
- Validate services after maintenance and upgrades.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain incident logs and operational records.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
- Document outages, actions taken, root cause summaries, and lessons learned.
- Update knowledge base and operational procedures.
Customer & Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, IT, Vendor, and Customer teams.
- Provide timely status updates during major incidents.
- Participate in bridge calls and incident review meetings.
Technical Skills Required
Telecom Domain
- Intelligent Network (IN) platforms.
- VAS platforms such as SMSC, USSD, IVR, CRBT, SDP, Charging Systems, and Messaging platforms.
- GSM/UMTS/LTE/VoLTE network fundamentals.
- SS7, SIGTRAN, SIP, Diameter protocols.
- Basic understanding of Core Network architecture.
Tools & Technologies
- NMS/OSS Monitoring Tools.
- Ticketing systems (Remedy, ServiceNow, Jira, etc.).
- Linux/Unix fundamentals.
- Basic SQL/Database knowledge.
- Log analysis and troubleshooting tools.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
- 1-5 years of experience in Telecom Operations, IN, Core Network, or VAS Operations.
- Experience in 24x7 Network Operations Center (NOC) environment preferred.
